Treatment Modalities

Brainspotting

Brainspotting (BSP) is a revolutionary, neuroscience-based therapy that helps individuals process and heal from trauma, emotional distress, and deeply rooted challenges. Developed by Dr. David Grand in 2003, Brainspotting harnesses the brain's natural ability to heal by identifying and processing unresolved trauma stored in the nervous system through eye positions.

Unlike traditional talk therapy, which primarily engages the thinking brain, Brainspotting accesses the deeper, subcortical regions responsible for emotions, memory, and body regulation. This allows for profound healing beyond what words alone can achieve.

How Does Brainspotting Work?

Brainspotting is based on the idea that “where you look affects how you feel.” During a session, the therapist helps you find specific eye positions - known as “brainspots” - that correlate with stored emotional experiences. As you focus on these spots, your brain begins to process and release the unresolved trauma, leading to relief and healing.

The process is enhanced by dual attunement, meaning the therapist provides a safe, compassionate space while your brain does the work of self-healing. Many clients experience deep emotional shifts, a sense of release, and greater resilience following sessions.

Brainspotting is highly effective for a variety of issues, including:

  • Trauma and PTSD – Helps process traumatic experiences without re-triggering distress.

  • Anxiety and Depression – Reduces overwhelming emotions and promotes emotional balance.

  • Chronic Pain and Physical Symptoms – Supports the mind-body connection in alleviating pain and tension.

  • Performance Enhancement – Helps athletes, performers, and professionals overcome mental blocks.

  • Addiction and Self-Destructive Patterns – Uncovers and processes the underlying emotional wounds.

  • Emotional Dysregulation – Helps create a sense of calm and control in daily life.

Why Choose Brainspotting?

Brainspotting is a gentle yet powerful approach that allows you to process trauma without having to rehash painful memories in detail. It’s particularly effective for individuals who have felt stuck in traditional talk therapy or who struggle to verbalize their experiences.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative therapy is a flexible, holistic approach that combines different therapeutic techniques to address an individual's unique needs. Rather than relying on a single school of thought, integrative therapy draws from multiple evidence-based modalities, tailoring the treatment to the client’s concerns, lived experience, and goals.

This approach recognizes that healing is multifaceted - emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and somatic (body-based) - and aims to create a personalized path to well-being. It is particularly beneficial for trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and self-exploration.

Key Principles of Integrative Therapy:

  1. Personalized Treatment – Therapy is adapted to fit the client's needs rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all approach.

  2. Holistic Healing – Addresses a client’s mind, body, and spirit - often incorporating mindfulness, somatic practices, and cognitive strategies.

  3. Flexibility & Adaptability – An integrated approach to therapy allows for flexibility in treatment to meet a client’s evolving goals.

  4. Empowerment & Growth – Clients are seen as active participants in their healing, and therapy evolves as they grow.

Common Modalities Used in Integrative Therapy:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – Helps change negative thought patterns.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – Helps clients cope with distressing emotions.

  • Somatic Therapy – Focuses on body awareness and nervous system regulation.

  • Mindfulness-Based Therapy – Incorporates meditation and grounding techniques.

  • Brainspotting & Parts Work – Accesses deeper trauma processing through eye positioning and self-awareness.

  • Psychodynamic Therapy – Explores past experiences and unconscious patterns.

  • Ecotherapy – Uses nature as a tool for healing.

  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) – Helps couples understand attachment and build emotional intimacy.

Parts Work

Parts Work is a powerful therapeutic approach that helps individuals heal psychological distress by exploring and integrating different aspects, or "parts," of themselves. Rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and similar models, Parts Work recognizes that we all have different internal voices, emotions, and experiences that shape our thoughts and behaviors.

When we experience trauma or emotional distress, certain parts of us may hold onto pain, fear, or shame. These parts often develop protective roles—such as people-pleasing, avoidance, or self-criticism—to help us survive difficult experiences. However, over time, these patterns can keep us stuck. Parts Work helps us reconnect with these parts in a compassionate way, leading to deep emotional healing and self-acceptance.

How Does Parts Work Help?

Parts Work allows you to develop a loving and accepting relationship with yourself. Rather than seeing difficult emotions or behaviors as problems, you learn to understand their origins and transform them.

Through guided exploration, you will:

  • Identify and connect with different aspects of yourself.

  • Understand the role and needs of each part.

  • Release pain, shame, or fear that parts may be holding onto.

  • Integrate all parts into a more balanced and harmonious sense of self.

What to Expect in a Parts Work Session

In your therapy session, we will explore your inner world gently and at your own pace. Using mindfulness, guided visualization, and dialogue, we will help you connect with different parts of yourself, understand their roles, and support their healing.

You may meet:

  • Wounded Parts – Carry unresolved trauma or pain.

  • Protective Parts – Try to keep you safe but may cause stress or avoidance.

  • Your Core Self – The wise, compassionate part of you that can heal and lead.

As we work together, these parts can begin to trust and release old burdens, allowing you to live with more clarity, confidence, and self-compassion
